Governor Evers recently vetoed a bipartisan bill known as the Teacher Bill of Rights that would have empowered both parents and teachers to provide safer learning environments for Wisconsin students. Lauren Greuel, Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty Associate Counsel, explained in a recent press release, “This legislation would have provided needed clarity and support for teachers to effectively manage their classrooms. It’s disappointing that Governor Evers vetoed bipartisan legislation aimed at addressing these challenges."
Our public education system has failed both students and teachers repeatedly. This common-sense bill would have helped fix some of the systemic problems that have hindered student learning by empowering teachers to create safe and more productive learning environments. Governor Evers’ decision to veto this bill is deeply disappointing.
