Study: Maternal Mortality Rates Decrease in Pro-life States

Both women and babies should be prioritized.

JAMA Network Open recently published a study which found that maternal mortality rates have decreased in states that have enacted strong pro-life laws. Texas, for example, saw a decrease in maternal mortality rates of 2.4% after it enacted a Heartbeat law. In addition, researchers compared fourteen states with strong pro-life laws to states that do not have abortion restrictions and found that the maternal mortality rate in pro-life states did not increase after pro-life legislation was enacted.

Pro-abortion advocates often claim that the safety of women is at risk in states with strong pro-life laws, but this study directly contradicts that claim. When both women and their babies are prioritized in healthcare, we see more women and children flourish.
