Empower Wisconsin reports that a long-dead casino project in Kenosha is being resurrected by the Florida Indian tribe that partnered on a similar proposal nearly a decade ago. This time, sources say the Seminole Tribe of Florida is looking to purchase about sixteen acres just west of Interstate-ninety-four in the village of Bristol, about fifteen miles west of Kenosha. Bristol village officials say they are not aware of any deals in the offing, but at least one village board member says she would be strongly opposed to a casino in the community.
Governor Walker said no to the Kenosha casino, but apparently since this property isn’t in Kenosha, the tribe can try again. It’s our understanding they will have to start the process all over again, which means this won’t happen overnight. If the community and the feds approve the deal, the final say will rest with whoever is governor at the time.
