Velma and Stanley Schultz were both born at their parent’s home more than 90 years ago. They met when Stanley bid on and purchased a “box lunch” made by Velma’s sister, at a “box lunch social”. Velma’s sister said that Stanley should meet her older sister. She then introduced them and they began their courtship of 2 years.
They married on May 6, 1950 in Wausau, WI. They took over Stanleys parent’s farm. They farmed for 21 years on this farm and during those 21 years all eight of their children were born. In 1971 they purchased a farm near Spencer, WI and moved their family there. Now they are living with their daughter near Edgar WI and loving it. Their marriage survived through many years of working on and off the farm through many good times and some hard time.
As a result of having eight children, they currently have 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 2 adopted great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 6 step great-great grandchildren. Stanley always says that with all of the spouses of all the children and grandchildren, thru their marriage they have created a small army of more than 100 people.
