Rodney & Doris Anderson

Rod grew up on a dairy farm outside of Greeley, CO. After finishing nursing school in MN, Doris moved to Denver, CO, where her older sister was living, and began working in a hospital. Doris’ older sister happened to be married to Rod’s older brother, and soon a budding relationship began between Rod and Doris. He’d drive down to Denver for a date, then would buy a 25 cent DQ cone to keep him awake on the hour drive back home. Rod and Doris were married six months later on November 24, 1961 in Viking, MN.

Rod took a job with GAC Financing in Denver where a son, David, was born a couple years later. As Rod gained promotions in the company, the family moved several times in CO with a short stop in TX as well. A daughter, Michelle, was born in Durango, CO. While attending Calvary Baptist Church of Durango, Rod was called to preach. So, they packed up the family in the summer of 1971 and moved to Watertown, WI to attend Maranatha Baptist Bible College. After completing college, Rod pastored in Markesan, WI, planted West Salem Baptist Church in West Salem, WI, and then served for nearly thirty years as pastor of First Baptist Church of Fort Atkinson, WI. In his retirement, Rod has served as an assistant pastor to his son near Beloit, WI, and recently moved back to Watertown with Doris when their son was appointed president of Maranatha Baptist University.
