Orville and Arlene were married at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Edgar, WI, on September 24, 1955. A reception followed at Arlene’s parents, Alfred and Esther Friedrich’s, home, a dinner at the Church, and a dance at Poplar Tree Ballroom in Marathon, WI.
They raised 6 children (a daughter and 5 sons) and are blessed with 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Orville owned and operated Lieders Trucking & Excavating, Green Acres Terrace Mobile Home Park, and a CB Radio Supply and Repair business in Colby, WI. Arlene supported him by managing the home office. Orville served in the National Guard based in Abbotsford and was part of a Men’s Barbershop Harmonizing Group.
Their strong faith led them through it all and still does. Orville served as an Elder at The First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, in which he was very instrumental in the building of the new church and manse. Arlene was a Deacon, President of the Presbyterian Women’s Group, and taught Sunday school. They were both active in the Colby Lions/Lionesses.
After retiring, Orville and Arlene enjoyed traveling. Some of their travels included Germany, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, US National Parks, along with cruises which included Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. They enjoyed their winters in Mission, Texas, as Snow Birds until 2020 and now reside in their home in Colby.
