Leon and Kathryn first met in school and through 4‑H in Merrill, two young people whose paths kept crossing long before they realized they belonged together. They didn’t start dating until after Leon graduated from Merrill High School, but once they did, their connection grew into a steady, lasting partnership.
They married on August 20, 1960, and soon began building a life that took them to Racine, where Leon’s career led them for many years. When the time felt right, they moved Up Nort’ to Rhinelander and then back to Merrill—the place that had always felt like home—to enjoy their retirement.
Along the way, they raised five children, and their family continued to grow with eight grandchildren and seven great‑grandchildren who all trace their roots back to the life Leon and Kathryn built together.
Their story is simple and enduring: two people who chose each other early, worked hard, and created a legacy that keeps growing.
