Fred & Evelyn Peck

Fred & Evelyn Peck

Fred and Evelyn met on the school bus. She was 15, he was 16. Love at first sight! Their first date was to the Mineral Point county fair in October. Fred thought Evelyn was “the fairest of the fair”. They dated til Evelyn graduated from high school, then got married in September, 1953.

Fred and Evelyn started their married life in Madison, working different jobs for a year or so, then returning to Spring Green where they took over the Peck farm. In those days, it was a small dairy and produce farm, also selling Christmas trees, which eventually gave way to all produce-sweet corn, melons, pumpkins, etc. Together they built and grew two successful farm markets.

Fred and Evelyn raised 4 kids; 2 girls and 2 boys who learned the value of a good day’s work while enjoying the rural lifestyle and rich heritage of growing up on the family farm which has been in the Peck name for four generations. Their legacy continues through ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
