Bill and Ruth met at a high school dance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1946. They dated on and off for a few years, then more seriously and became engaged in 1950.
They were married on April 14th, 1951. Bill was soon drafted and joined the Marines. He was stationed in Hawaii, where Ruth also joined him until his discharge in 1954. Bill went back to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and graduated with a doctorate in Agronomy. Ruth and Bill lived in Madison while Bill worked as a professor at UWM. They had two children by then and a nice home.
Soon Bill accepted a position at Nalco Chemical Co. in Darien, Illinois, where they moved in 1961. They had their third child there. They lived in Illinois for almost 20 years. Ruth was a dedicated home maker and mother. She enjoyed her pursuits of sewing, crafts and gardening.
After Bill retired from Nalco, they moved to Waupaca, Wisconsin to live in their dream retirement home they had been remodeling for 10 years. Ruth and Bill then pursued together their love of gardening and crafting. Bill also worked as a part time Environmental Sciences Consultant. Ruth quilted, did Rug Hooking and collected teddy bears. They were both actively involved in their church, many organizations and clubs.
In March of 2024, they moved into an assisted living apartment in Bellevue, Wisconsin. Bill and Ruth feel that their lives have been blessed by God and are thankful for all the years they have had together. They have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
Marriage Advice: Ruth and Bill feel that couples should share their faith together and worship God together. They also feel that couples should find interests that they can share and pursue together.
