MADISON – Wisconsin Family Council (WFC) expressed disappointment with yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine for lack of standing. WFC joined Advancing American Freedom’s amicus brief, along with 28 other state Family Policy Councils and the national group Family Policy Alliance, in February.
“The Court’s unanimous decision dismisses the case on a procedural issue and does not reach the merits of the case. The amicus brief we joined argued that the FDA approved mifepristone without regard for the significant safety concerns apparent at the time of approval, and that chemical abortion continues to pose a significant safety risk to women, which is made worse by the lax reporting requirements approved by the FDA,” WFC President Christine File said.
“We hope the FDA will take this opportunity to increase the safety standards that protect women. We will continue to support efforts to uphold standards to protect women’s health while also protecting the lives of their children.”
Wisconsin Family Council is a statewide organization engaged in strengthening, preserving, and promoting marriage, family, life, and religious liberty in Wisconsin.
