In a recent study from Sapien Labs, an organization dedicated to providing data on mental health trends, researchers found that 41% of 18–34-year-olds suffer from mental health disorders. Writing for the Daily Citizen, reporter Emily Washburn, sums up the reasons cited in the study for this mental health decline, explaining, “Weakened family bonds, decreased spirituality, early smartphone use and poor diet perpetuate the global mental health crisis among young adults.”
These findings point to the need for strong families in ensuring that the next generations are in the best place to thrive. Maintaining strong family bonds, fostering faith, and developing healthy habits all begin in the home. If we want to see a reversal in these negative mental health trends, we need both public policy and our culture to support families.
