Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty announced a new case they’re taking up on behalf of a Wisconsin mother, Amanda Vogel, who was threatened with legal action by her local school district. A law firm claiming to represent the School District of Pittsville sent Vogel a threatening letter accusing her of defamation after she criticized the district in a social media post. The district also commissioned the local Chief of Police to intimidate Vogel at her home. WILL is arguing that Vogel acted within her First Amendment rights.
Parents have the right to hold their school district’s accountable for how they treat students, and school districts should heed this feedback. We are thankful that WILL has taken up this case to defend Ms. Vogel’s First Amendment rights.
