A group of bipartisan lawmakers recently introduced a bill to side-step the new federal regulations on hemp production. The bill would set up a state system for regulating hemp and expand the definition to include hemp-derived cannabinoids with THC that are intended to be ingested by the consumer. This legislation paves the way for the legalization of some THC and cannabinoid products in Wisconsin.

Multiple studies suggest that consuming these psychoactive substances through foods and beverages leads to a higher risk for severe anxiety, paranoia, vomiting, and other negative impacts. This is a concern especially for children who mistakenly consume these products. Officially legalizing THC and other cannabinoid products is a bad choice for Wisconsin families.
