WFA recently joined Them Before Us, a child’s rights advocacy group, in a campaign to overturn the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision and restore traditional marriage in Wisconsin. Them Before Us founder, Katy Faust, described the heart of the movement in an article for The Federalist saying, “Children are the overlooked casualties of a legal regime that has elevated adult desire over biological and developmental reality. If we are serious about protecting children, we must dismantle the decade-long framework of Obergefell that has systematically failed them.”

The legal status granted through gay marriage allows two men or two women to create a child through IVF and permanently separate them from their biological mother or father. Research, however, confirms that this decision causes lasting psychological harm to children. It’s time to put the best interest of children ahead of adult desires.
