Last week, a lawsuit was filed against the Wisconsin legislature for not approving additional education funding during the last legislative floor session. The plaintiffs, who are comprised of parents and educators from multiple school districts, are arguing that the current failures in public education are the result of inadequate state funding. Additionally, the plaintiffs are claiming that Wisconsin’s private voucher program violates the constitution.
This is another attempt by the public education system to attack private choice schools. Public schools argue that voucher schools are taking their money, while instead that money is following the student for the education system that parents believe will be best for their children. We hope that the courts affirm Court precedents that allow the legislature to make decisions that are best for students whether through voucher schools or public schools.
