Proposed Amendment to Protect Parents’ Rights.

Proposed Amendment to Protect Parents’ Rights.

This amendment would protect parents' rights.

U.S. Representative Debbie Lesko from Arizona this week introduced a proposal to amend the us constitution to establish a “fundamental right” for parents to "direct the upbringing, education, and care" of their children. The proposal was applauded by leading religious liberty organizations, including Alliance Defending Freedom. Lesko leads the Protect Kids Caucus in the House. The first sentence of the amendment states that the "liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children is a fundamental right."

Bravo Representative Lesko! I hope our Wisconsin delegation will sign on and support this proposal. It’s sad that we need to ensconce parental rights in federal law; we all should understand these rights are God-given, inalienable rights; but since parental rights are under attack across the country, including here in Wisconsin, this is a prudent move.
