As Congress considers new healthcare legislation, President Trump shocked pro-life supporters last week, when he asked Republican congress members to be "flexible" on the Hyde Amendment, a provision that blocks federal funding for most abortions. This request is especially surprising since just last year the One Big Beautiful Bill ended federal funding for abortion providers. Thankfully, Republican congress members appear unwilling to compromise on protecting the lives of unborn children.

President Trump's position on this issue is disappointing. There should be no flexibility in using taxpayer funds to subsidize abortion. Abortion harms women, men, and children. Our government should never give taxpayer money towards the destruction of human life.
