Archbridge Institute recently published a helpful report on the condition of social mobility across all fifty states. Researchers from Institute for Family Studies narrowed the focus of the report to show how, “Family life sets the foundation for social mobility,” by focusing on parental engagement and family stability scores. They argue that the strength of the family unit is the ultimate test for whether an individual will thrive in society. With a combined score for parental engagement and family stability, Wisconsin came in 18th place.
This research reveals an important truth: strong families are the foundation of strong societies. Policymakers in Wisconsin and across the country should heed the Institute for Family Studies warning and ensure that all legislation enacted currently and, in the future, supports healthy, thriving families.
