Kids Online Safety Act

Kids Online Safety Act

Kids need protection from online dangers.

Last month, a group of state representatives began circulating a bill for co-sponsorship known as the Kids Online Safety Act. The purpose of the bill is to put measures in place to protect kids from the many dangers and negative effects associated with time online. Co-sponsor Representative David Steffan explained, “Right now, social media companies, advertisers and predators have unfettered access to our children and data shows this has come at great cost. It’s time to protect our kids online by enacting common-sense safety measures.”

At Wisconsin Family Council, we are thankful these representatives have taken action to protect children from online dangers. Social media companies should be held accountable for the harms associated with their platforms, and parents should be in control of their child’s exposure to these sites.
