In a recent article from Institute for Family Studies, Digital Media and Family expert, Emily Harrison outlines new research warning parents and educators about the dangers of using technology in education. Drawing from the research of neuroscientist Dr. Jared Horvath, she argues that focusing education on technology does not help students succeed, instead she explains, “Teaching students how to develop critical thinking skills and arming them with a base of actual knowledge is the foundation necessary to developing a well-informed, capable citizen.”
As technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, it’s vital for parents and educators to carefully consider how this tech should be included in education. Technology should be used as a tool to aid rather than hinder a child’s development.
