One of our greatest objectives here at Wisconsin Family Council is to invest in the future. Through the help of our partners, we work to promote biblical values, equip Christians to stand up for their beliefs, and empower the next generation to develop into strong, biblical leaders.
Of particular concern to us is the increased rejection of a personal faith by many young people. Helping kids remain grounded in biblical faith as they enter adulthood requires intentionality, dedication, and an abundance of prayer from the start. However, teen years are especially formative, which is why we have developed a special program to help this age group cement their biblical worldview and develop into godly leaders.
We want to see these future adults living with confidence in God and His Word, taking on leadership positions in both their churches and communities, and reaching their full God-given potential. We want them to take up the mantle that inspired WFC’s president emeritus, Julaine Appling, to begin our LEAD Wisconsin camp six years ago. As we head into our upcoming summer of LEAD, we are incredibly grateful for those who have partnered with us and directly impacted the lives of teenagers through LEAD Wisconsin.
LEAD Wisconsin is a one week summer camp with a clear mission: “equipping teens to become effective, godly leaders who engage the culture from a biblical perspective.” The week revolves around two of the greatest needs of teens today: worldview training and leadership experience.
Each summer, we bring in qualified biblical worldview speakers who challenge our teens through relevant and thought-provoking sessions. This year’s speaker is Jon Noyes from Stand to Reason. Jon will share with our teens the story of his transformation from atheism to Christianity, and strengthen their biblical convictions. Jon is passionate about engaging people with honest, well-thought-out reasons why people should trust the Christian worldview. We are excited for our teens to learn from him.
On the leadership experience side of camp, each of our teens participates in a specialized track giving them experience in real world simulations. Our first-year campers participate in the Assembly track, role-playing as real-life representatives in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Returning campers can choose among the Senate, Media, and Business tracks. Each track provides campers with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on practice leading in their chosen field.
This July, we encourage you to partner with us to invest in teens and young adults through LEAD Wisconsin. Most importantly, we ask you to pray that God will prepare our teens to grow in Him through their experiences at LEAD. It is already apparent that God is doing amazing things through LEAD campers and alumni! You can learn more about how you can get involved in equipping the next generation to become godly leaders who engage the culture from a biblical perspective through referrals, financial partnership, and physical help during camp as a volunteer at LEADwi.org. We are incredibly grateful for each of our partners who makes this vital opportunity for teens possible.
We are excited to announce that because of generous financial partners, we are able to open up more spots for young people this year! If you have a teen or know a teen who would benefit from a week of worldview and leadership training, we encourage you to check out our website LEADwi.org.
Many look on the next generation with despair; in our LEAD teens, however, we see innovation, enthusiasm, and passion. In fact, many of our LEAD alumni are already taking leadership positions. One was appointed to West Point Academy by Congressman Tom Tiffany. One is inspiring his denomination to further engage in the public square and plans to attend seminary to become a pastor. One is impacting federal policy through his work at a congressional office. One is protecting babies from abortion at a pregnancy resource center. And another has run for local political office.
Our partners are the ones who make these stories and transformations possible. We are thankful to have played a part with you in equipping these young people to serve the Lord and become godly leaders. After just five years, we have seen the life-changing impact of LEAD Wisconsin, and we eagerly look forward to what the future will hold. We want to equip the next generation of Wisconsin’s leaders, pastors, legislators, workers, educators, moms, and dads to hold firmly to biblical faith and to lead fearlessly in whatever realm God calls them.
We have found that these young adults are ready to meet the challenge. We invite you to join with our partners and our WFC team as we work together to provide the next generation with the tools they need to lead with grace, experience, and godliness through LEAD Wisconsin.
For Wisconsin Family Council, this is Daniel Degner reminding you that God, through the prophet Hosea, said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
