How to Find Meaning in Parenting

"Children are a heritage from the Lord"

In a recent article from Institute for Family Studies, author and psychoanalyst, Erica Komisar encourages parents not to miss out on and, if needed, regain the deep meaning and purpose that can come from parenting. She explains, "parenting cannot be an endless slog to nowhere... There must be a greater purpose: loving sacrifice and the legacy of leaving this earth with children who are emotionally secure, interdependent, and resilient... To regain that sense of purpose, parents must return to the fundamentals of connection."

Research continues to show that married parents experience the most happiness and fulfillment, but parents still have the responsibility to develop meaningful connections with their children. God's Word is clear that children are a gift. Psalm 127:3 says, "Behold children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward."
