Good Friday 2024

Praise God He didn't remain in the grave!

One of the great old hymns poignantly captures Good Friday. “One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain. One day they nailed Him to die on the tree; Suffering anguish, despised and rejected; Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He.” The chorus gives the summation: “Living He loved me, dying He saved me, buried he carried my sins far away. Rising he justified freely forever; One day he’s coming; O glorious day.” The victorious resurrection had to be preceded by the anguish and horror of the cross and the tomb. The only way to Sunday was through Friday.

I hope we can take time today to reflect on the reality of what Jesus did for us when He willingly gave Himself as our substitute and paid our sin-debt on the cross. Praise God He didn’t remain in the grave, but rather He conquered death ensuring that because He lives, we too shall live. We wish you a most blessed Easter weekend.
