Tuesday evening in his state of the state address, Governor Evers vowed to veto any legislation that, in his words, “restricts reproductive freedom.” Pro-abortion legislators and outside groups claiming to be about “health care,” lauded the governor for having kept his promise in the past and reiterating it for this session. A number of remarks linked the governor’s commitment to the lawsuit he and attorney general Josh Kaul filed arguing the state’s pre-Roe abortion ban is not enforceable. That lawsuit is currently in a Dane county court.
Let’s again set the record straight. Abortion is not health care. It is not reproductive freedom. Abortion is an elective procedure whose purpose is to end the life of a preborn baby. That is not health care. Governor Evers is again pandering to Planned Parenthood which spent hundreds of thousands to help him win re-election this past fall.
