Early and Late Marriages Both Produce Happiness and Fulfillment

Early and Late Marriages Both Produce Happiness and Fulfillment

Married people are more fulfilled and happier.

In a recent article compiling studies conducted over the last twenty years, researchers found that the age at which individuals choose to marry does not significantly impact marriage success or happiness. These findings contradict the modern idea that young people should wait to get married until they've finished higher education or have established careers. In fact, a report from the National Marriage Project out of the University of Virginia found that, "early marriages may enjoy slightly higher relationship quality..."

Popular commentary on marriage should acknowledge the simple truth that married people, whether married young or later in life, are more fulfilled and happier. Good marriages form the basis for strong families, and strong families are needed for our state to thrive. This knowledge should drive our leaders to support policies that encourage and incentivize this union.
