Twenty-one democrat state legislators recently introduced a bill that would further restrict school choice options for Wisconsin families. Current law allows both private in-person and virtual schools to participate in Wisconsin’s school choice programs. The new bill, however, would completely exclude any schools that offer virtual education. If passed, this bill would remove educational opportunities for thousands of students.
Education freedom is vitally important in our state. Parents need more school options, not less. There is no reason to exclude virtual schools from these programs. Parents should be the ones to decide what kind of education their tax dollars are going to support. Thankfully this legislation is unlikely to move forward this legislation session.
