As artificial intelligence advances, many individual states have introduced bills regulating the technology. The current administration has argued that the number of different state AI laws show a need for a federal regulatory framework. But a recent study from Institute for Family Studies shows that federal regulation is unnecessary. Researchers explained, “state laws regulating AI express a growing consensus among the American people…. Americans want legislation that emphasizes inquiry, humanity, transparency, safety, security, and accountability."
Thankfully, most Americans understand the importance of enacting AI regulations that protect the people, especially children, and that provide much-needed accountability. We hope to see more states, including Wisconsin, adopt laws that protect the American people from the dangers of AI.
