In a recent article for Institute for Family Studies, Erica Komisar, writing about mothers, says, quote, “Healthy mothers are not extraneous, fungible, or interchangeable with fathers—they are unique, critical to a child’s emotional security and future mental health. They provide sensitive and empathic nurturing, which is the foundation of compassion for others.” End quote. In other words, a mother’s role in the family is irreplaceable.

Mothers not only bring into the world the next generation, they have a profound and unique impact on the next generation. They fill a specific role as a nurturer and teacher, especially in their children’s early years. Blessed is the family with a strong, godly mother in the home, for she is truly the heart of the family.
