A Win for Election Integrity
Can Christian Marriages Save Our Nation?

The Supreme Court Ruled in Favor of Religious Freedom
CRT & Three Ways to Oppose It
IN THE MEDIA

On Tuesday afternoon the US Senate voted down a bill that would fundamentally change how elections are handled across the nation. Essentially the bill would have nationalized all elections dealing with federal candidates, which would have canceled the right of states to conduct their own elections according to their own laws. Because the Senate still has the filibuster rule which requires 60 votes to pass such a law, the bill failed on a 50/50 vote, with all Republicans voting against the bill and all Democrats voting for it.

Julaine Appling celebrated this news, reiterating the founding father’s intentions for our great nation, “The founders never intended for the federal government to control elections. The constitution doesn’t provide for that. This disastrous bill was a liberal power grab that would have made it easier to cheat in elections. I have no doubt liberals seeking to fundamentally change America will keep trying. We need election reform that makes it easier to vote but harder to cheat. This bill was really about keeping corrupt politicians in office.”

Can Christian Marriages Save Our Nation?

In an article for Christianpost.com, Karen Farris writes, “As Christian parents, we can offer stability, comfort, and the power of faith as we work through our issues. We aren’t perfect and neither are our marriages, but when a family remains together, the next generation is stronger too. ”

Throughout the article, Farris offers thoughts about how married couples can inspire the next generation to desire marriage and see it as a lifetime commitment. Her advice to couples includes:

  • Spend quality time together instead of with faulty substitutes (like TV).
  • Plan to share your life together without an exit strategy.
  • Raise your children with honesty about your own failures.
  • Celebrate marriage and encourage your children and their friends to see it as the blessing it truly is.
  • And, most importantly, introduce your children to God and help them develop their own walk with Jesus.

Julaine Appling applauded the article saying, “Strong Christian marriages are really the best defense we have today against the erosion of our values and way of life in this country. Passing on to the next generation a desire for and commitment to marriage is essential for the well-being of individuals and of our entire society. As always, God’s way is the best way.”

In 2018 the City of Philadelphia refused to renew its contract with Catholic Social Services (CSS) after finding out that CSS objects to placing foster children with same-sex couples, believing rather that what is best for children is to be in homes with a married dad (male) and mom (female).

In other words, the City of Philadelphia acted on the belief that fathers are not important (or mothers either, for that matter). By not renewing its contract with CSS, the city stated that it is just fine for kids to have two moms or two dads (which means they either have no dad or no mom) as parents instead of one biological female and one biological male joined in marriage as God intended.

Fortunately, that’s not the end of the story. On Thursday, June 17, 2021, the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of CSS. This means that CSS is allowed to operate and place children without changing or compromising their religious beliefs.

Wisconsin Family Action stood up for fathers, biblical marriage and religious freedom in this case by participating in a friend-of-the-court brief in support of CSS.

While the Fulton v. City of Philadelphia case is a huge win for children needing forever families, fathers, religious freedom and the biblical model of marriage, we still have a long way to go to restore all of these in our culture. You can stand up for fathers and biblical marriage with us by investing in the In-Honor Initiative.

CRT & Three Ways to Oppose It

Earlier this year Christopher Rufo delivered a lecture at Hillsdale College explaining what Critical Race Theory is and how pervasive it has become in our country. Rufo then shared three components of a successful strategy to defeat the forces that are attempting to make this heretical ideology the dominant ideology and pervasive worldview in our country. In Rufo’s components, we see the importance of using our brains, having a heart, and exercising courage much like author Frank Baum illustrates in the Wizard of Oz with his scarecrow without a brain, his tin man without a heart and his lion without courage.

Rufo’s three strategies are:

  1. Government action. Creating and implementing legislation requires brains; bad legislation is often worse than no legislation.
  2. Grassroots pushback. This type of effort requires heart — a lot of heart from at least a few key people. In other words, it takes passion to stop evil, to protect people, and to make a real positive difference.
  3. An appeal to principles. Rufo asserts that instead of talking about “diversity,” we should be talking about and working for “excellence”; we should be promoting the truth about our American history and not allow the lies to continue. This requires courage to go against the grain and to repeatedly show up, stand up and speak up.

In conclusion to her most recent podcast episode covering Rufo’s lecture, Julaine Appling said,CRT isn’t ultimately about race or racism; hiding behind the curtain are those who think they are wizards and whose goal is to destroy our nation. Exposing and fighting against this effort will require all the brains, heart, and courage we can muster. But it can be done.”
