National Day of Prayer

Have you felt anxious lately? Do you catch yourself wondering what the world is coming to and whether or not you should do something about it? Concern and worry are human experiences. However, in Philippians 4:6-7, God clearly instructs us to turn our anxious thoughts into prayer and thanksgiving,

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Thursday, May 6, is the National Day of Prayer. This is an incredible opportunity for you to lift up your personal concerns to the Lord and join others from across the nation in pleading for God’s favor on behalf of our state and our country. For more information CLICK HERE.

Why You Need To Educate Yourself about Marijuana

Virginia recently became the first southern state to legalize recreational marijuana. Under this law an individual is permitted to have up to one ounce of marijuana in their possession, which is the equivalent of forty or eighty joints. Each household can have up to four cannabis plants. You can read more HERE.

In response to this news Julaine Appling, president of WFC, urges the constituents of Wisconsin to educate themselves on this matter.

“This battle [of legalizing or not legalizing marijuana] has come to our state, and we need to educate ourselves. Some Republicans in our legislature have introduced a bill to make possession of ten grams or less of marijuana a misdemeanor, not a felony. Ten grams of marijuana is about a third of an ounce, or about fifteen to twenty joints. Governor Evers’ budget calls for legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.”

WFA recommends this video by Dr. Kevin Sabet, a noted expert on this issue. We also recommend you visit TruthOnWeed.com for a new web resource with helpful tools to truth-check the marijuana lobby.

Someone You Know Needs the Hope You Have

According to a new study conducted by Lifeway Research, “A worldwide pandemic has apparently led Americans to think more about the meaning and purpose of life.” Their research revealed that 57 percent of U.S. adults consider the question, “How can I find more purpose and meaning in my life?” at least monthly. This has increased from 51 percent in 2011.

The article went on to state that, in 2011, 21 percent of people said that they are unsure of what happens after death. That number has increased to 67 percent. You can read the full report HERE.

Julaine Appling said this is an important time for Christians to share the hope that they have in Christ with those around them.

“In the midst of the virus crisis, Christians have extraordinary opportunities to bring hope to friends, family, neighbors and more. We know the higher purpose — the ultimate purpose — in life is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to live our lives bringing honor and glory to Him. Sharing the Gospel message is really the best thing we can do to help others.”

First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the survey we sent out a couple of weeks ago. Your feedback was super helpful, AND we’re ready to launch into our first new project: Making this email newsletter more reader-friendly.

Instead of getting one LONG email from us once a week, we’re going to send you two shorter emails. Our hope is that this shift keeps you informed with the most up-to-date information and that the email will be easier to read.

Connecting with you is really important to us and we’re excited to take this next step with you!
