Last Friday, Governor Evers, together with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and the Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board, hosted a “Winning with Wisconsin’s Workforce” forum designed to address the state’s chronic workforce challenges, which includes a shrinking labor force. The emphasis was on highlighting key investments and strategies to boost workforce participation and help employers meet their needs.
The shrinking labor force is very real. For nearly fifty years we’ve been below replacement birth rate. That has caught up. It will take a while, but to really fix our labor shortage, government needs to incentivize marriage and childbearing in marriage. We’ve become a nation that values neither and that double whammy has significant economic ramifications
