Pro-Life Lawsuit Against FDA

FDA charged with violating federal policy.

A coalition of pro-life doctors and organizations filed a first-of-its-kind lawsuit in federal court last week, charging that the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of abortion pills such as “RU-486” violated federal policy and put the lives of women at risk. The lawsuit says, “The only way the FDA could have approved chemical abortion drugs was to use its accelerated drug approval authority, necessitating the FDA to call pregnancy an ‘illness’ and argue that these dangerous drugs provide a ‘meaningful therapeutic benefit’ over existing treatments.’”

As the lawsuit asserts, the FDA overstepped its authority and in its rush to approve the drug, didn’t thoroughly study its safety. The FDA certainly knows pregnancy is not an illness. This abortion-causing pill combination is not a “meaningful therapeutic benefit” over surgical abortions. Both come with significant health risks for women and both kill an unborn baby.
