Wednesday a Waukesha County judge rejected Kettle Moraine School District’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought against the district by two sets of parents. Attorneys with Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and Alliance Defending Freedom represent the parents. The lawsuit challenges the district’s policy that allows minor students to change their name and gender pronouns at school without parental consent. The court noted that the parents’ argument ‘demonstrates a potential violation of their rights as parents to direct the upbringing of their child.’
It's encouraging to have a judge understand that the issue is the right of parents to make decisions about the education and upbringing of their children without government intervention. The hubris of the school district in seeking to have this lawsuit dismissed is almost as alarming as its unconstitutional policy. That request makes it clear the district thinks they own the kids.
