The Georgia Supreme Court on Tuesday handed a victory to the state’s efforts to protect preborn babies, upholding a law banning abortions after a baby’s heartbeat can be detected, usually around six weeks’ gestation, pending further litigation. Abortions rates in the state have been cut in about half following the enforcement of the law. Georgia enacted its Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act in twenty nineteen. It officially took effect last summer after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
While further litigation on the case is pending, this decision is good news for life! Every win for life should be celebrated. Meanwhile in our state, while we wait for a decision in the lawsuit challenging our pre-Roe abortion ban, we have Planned Parenthood doing abortions illegally with department of justice officials ignoring their lawlessness.
