Court Affirms Religious Freedom for Medical Providers

Court Affirms Religious Freedom for Medical Staff.

Last week, the eighth US Circuit Court of Appeals granted a permanent injunction to the Religious Sisters of Mercy and a coalition of other Catholic healthcare and insurance providers against a regulation requiring medical professionals and health insurance providers to perform gender-transition procedures against their beliefs. This move blocks the US Department of Health and Human services from enforcing a regulation that originally was part of Obama’s Affordable Care Act and was reinstated by the Biden administration.

Thanks to the Christian post for reporting on this good news from a federal court. This is actually the second federal appellate decision that is favorable for religious freedom on this issue of the government forcing medical providers to perform or ensure so-called “gender transitions.” These rulings set important precedent for similar situations around the country.
