Casino Deal

Casino Deal

A casino deal that former governor Scott Walker shot down nearly ten years ago appears to be revived. The Florida Seminole Tribe is attempting to buy a sixty-acre plot of land from the Village of Bristol—land that actually is in the city of Kenosha. Empower Wisconsin reports that secrecy is shrouding the deal with citizens being largely kept in the dark about the fifteen point two million dollars the Kenosha Land Company, which shares an address with the Seminole tribe’s Hard Rock International, is offering.

The Seminoles would likely build a casino on the acquired land. Much more needs to take place before final approval on this deal, but it’s important to note that Governor Evers has already approved the first-ever off-reservation casino in our state to be built in Beloit. More casinos mean more problem gambling, which means more harmed families. This is a bad bet.
