Ryan Foley with Christian Post reports that last Thursday the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with a Tampa-based family therapist and the Christian ministry New Hearts Outreach Tampa Bay in a lawsuit over the city’s ban on counselors providing voluntary therapy to minors seeking help with unwanted same-sex attractions. Such therapy is derided by critics as “conversion therapy,” but proponents contend that banning such practice interferes with the First Amendment rights of the counselors and patients. 

This is another victory for religious freedom and freedom of speech. We are getting more and more of these cases being decided against these bans on so-called conversion therapy. Eventually at least one of the cases will go to the US Supreme Court. In the meantime, these appellate decisions should stop communities from enacting these unconstitutional policies.
