All budgets, including the state’s budget, are about priorities. The governor has laid out his priorities in his version of Wisconsin’s two-year budget. Now the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will amend the budget to reflect the priorities of the Republican majority. Because the state’s budget is about how taxpayer money will be spent, Wisconsin citizens should have some knowledge about what’s being proposed. The Joint Finance Committee has a website that will help. Visit legis.Wisconsin.gov/topics/budget comments.

Good stewardship demands that we the people are informed and involved with how our hard-earned tax dollars get spent. This new website makes it easy to get budget-related information and to find out where and when the four public hearings will be held next month. That’s our opportunity to let the legislators know our priorities.
