Governor Scott Walker doesn’t have a great deal more time to decide if he’ll approve a new casino in Kenosha—a first-of-its-kind off-reservation casino. Recent news says the tribes and the unions won’t honor a pact that would have prevented a secret ballot vote regarding unionization. Some are saying with this issue off the table, there’s no reason for Governor Walker not to approve the casino.

Julaine Appling, president of Wisconsin Family Council, disagrees, “Taking card-check off the table doesn’t change in any way the harm that another casino will do to Wisconsin’s best resource—her families. It won’t change the loss of small, family-run businesses, or the increase in crime that happens when casinos come to a community. The governor still has every reason to say no to this casino.”
