Our Values = Family Values
The government should promote the institution of marriage in society, as this provides a strong foundation for our society’s families, in particular for children. Further, we support marriage as being between one man and one woman. We also support initiatives to reduce the incidence of divorce in Wisconsin.
We support the sanctity of human life and pro-life efforts to protect the unborn. This includes opposing legislation that promotes the destruction of human life – which starts at conception – through abortion and other means. We support a woman’s right to learn about the effects of abortion, including fetal pain. Further, we oppose stem-cell research that requires the destruction of human embryos. Abstinence should also be promoted in our state’s secondary education system.
We support the right of individuals to practice their religion without government interference, as this is often considered to be one of the most important liberties granted to citizens of this nation.
We oppose the expansion of casinos and other gambling activities in Wisconsin. Such activities are harmful to both the state’s communities and economy. Gambling harms communities by placing an addictive activity in locations where individuals can go into debt, therefore taking financial resources away from their families.
Children in Wisconsin’s public schools should have the right to learn about competing theories regarding the origin of life on Earth. Currently in Wisconsin public schools, the theory of evolution is often taught to the exclusion of any other theory. Therefore, we support the idea of “teaching the controversy” and allowing students to draw their own conclusions about the debate surrounding the origins of life.
Pornography is harmful to society because of its addictive effects and must be controlled by the government. The use of pornography has negative consequences for both the institution of marriage and the family. Child pornography is particularly heinous as it violates the children forced to engage in the production of such pornography and too often results in children being victims of sexual assault.
Wisconsin’s parents should have education options available to them and their children. Such options include but are not limited to home schooling, voucher programs, and open enrollment. With these options, parents are better able to select an education program that is appropriate for their child.
We support decreasing the tax burden faced by hardworking Wisconsin families, as this burden harms both communities and children alike. Further, we oppose legislation and laws that place a heavier tax burden on married individuals than those who are co-habiting, as this penalizes the institution of marriage.
